Grant Secured for Wrap Around Care
From Monday 13 September we will be opening a new Before and After School Club for our children from 7.30am to 6.00pm during term time, as part of a range of exciting improvements that have been put in place over the last twelve months following the appointment of our new headteacher, Mr Dan Burns.
For the latest information and details on how to apply for a place (some places are still available) please download these documents and return your forms as soon as possible: oos_club_letter.pdf

Mr Burns said ‘We are delighted and extremely excited to have secured a grant from Bradford Council’s Early Years department to make this happen from September. We are now recruiting for a leader and play workers to help run our Before and After School Club. Details on these appointments can be obtained from our office for anyone who wants to apply.”
The current academic year has been very eventful in Oxenhope for all the right reasons. Mr Burns and Mrs Kathrine Nutting, Oxenhope’s new deputy head, were both new to the school last September. A number of new initiatives are under way such as our recent Investors in Pupils accreditation.
Mrs Nutting, also an Early Years specialist, said “We have also been included in an exciting Department for Children Families and Schools buddying project which is helping us to enhance a dynamic, creative range of learning opportunities for our youngest children. Oxenhope School is in such a beautiful setting and we are working on ways of maximising learning opportunities outside the classroom.”
We have plans in place to further develop outdoor provision for these younger children with building work scheduled to take place over the summer break.
As a Church of England managed school, Oxenhope’s village school draws on additional resources available from the Diocese of Bradford. This includes support in obtaining grant funding to enhance and maintain the quality of the school buildings, and to project manage improvements made. Over the last five years, the outside of the building has been transformed with a new roof added, pointing re-done, windows and gutters replaced, and the car park resurfaced.
Inside, our School Hall was refurbished last year and new carpets and suspended ceilings fitted to Key Stage 2 classrooms. This year, capital projects are ongoing with the school currently distributing their computer equipment throughout all classrooms having recently fitted a wireless network and purchased netbook computers thanks to grants obtained through the Diocese and generous donations from their extremely active and enthusiastic Friends group and the very supportive congregation of St Mary’s Parish Church in Oxenhope.
Mr Burns said “We are going to refurbish our library and existing computer suite to provide a new and exciting multi-functional space the Before and After School Club can use, with the added benefit of transforming this learning area for use by all our stakeholders at other times of the day.”
He added, “I can’t believe it’s a year since our governors appointed me. The last year has been incredibly hectic but such a lot has been achieved. I’ve been bowled over by the level of support from parents and staff, the governors, our Friends, the church and the wider community here in Oxenhope. The real stars are our children though – they are a real credit to the school and a wonderful group of young people to work with!”
If your child is starting school this coming September, Oxenhope Primary School still has some places for children in our Reception ‘Bronte’ Class and some places in other year groups too.
